NTSC / PAL question from a newbie

I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me....

I'm currently thinking about purchasing a region free NTSC/PAL DVD player. My question is this, while the player can handle PAL stuff, does my TV have to be able to handle this format as well?

I have a Mitsubishi WS-55819 and haven't been able to find in the manual if it can handle the signal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn

If a NTSC/PAL DVD player works the same way as it's VCR counterpart, you don't need a special TV. All the video translation is done before it hits the TV. I have one of those VCRs, a Samsung, and it works just fine with tapes from Europe. The TV is an older Panasonic GAOO.
