Probably a dumb question - about SAMPO!

In the grand hierarchy of quality brand names, Sampo doesn't strike me as being the best quality name.

What do you guys know about Sampo? Are they as bad as I think they might be? Do they chill with Sony, or do they slum it with GE? Or are they somewhere in the middle. If I found what looks like a pretty good deal on a Sampo HDTV, would it be worth it?

I've never seen a Sampo. Is it up there in the ranks with Panaphonic, Magnetbox, and Sorny?

Here is a link to a SAMPO HDTV review.

Exactly...

Probably not as bad as an Ornitron, but not as good as an Apex...

I have a Sampo DVD player, and they're rather low rent. They have problems loading certain discs and tha black levels are terrible. It does what you need it to though.

Has anyone seen the really strange, fantasy-type movie shown on MST-3K one time, where they were talking to the sun and clouds and road ("Now I know why they say the road goes on and on...") and the main villain/witch character was obsessed with finding sampo and Joel and the bots never could figure out what sampo was? Maybe she was just looking for really cheap HT gear!

I'm glad you mentioned this. I definitely saw this, but I didn't consciously remember it. I was wondering why I had this voice in my head going "SAMp-PO!!" Now I know it was Joel
