Which multiregion player is better?
I'm considering buying a multiregion player (like I need to feed the beast with foreign discs, too, but you know how it is...) Basically, I can swing either the Daewoo DVD-5800 or the HitachiHD DVP250, which I can find absolutely NO info on. Does anybody have any info on the latter and which machine is better?

I have an APEX 600A player that has the "secret" menu option you access to make the player region free. It does have it's glitches and sometimes freezes on certain movies, but it does play multi-region dvd's very well. The secret menu also has an option to deactivate Macrovision so you can record to VHS if you have any desire to. Another player is the Mulata N996. I have a friend who has this one and it's about as good as a player as you will ever get. It's plays all region dvd's flawlessly and even adjusts the picture on PAL discs so there will be no stretching unlike most others.
One quick note, if you consider looking to get an APEX 600A, be sure you see when the player was made. Any model made after October 2000 does NOT have the secret menu option. I know you asked about your 2 but haven't heard much about them. Last edited by trespoochies : 05-24-2002 at 08:59 PM. |
