DIRECTV/TIVO

Well friends I am new to yur board and come bearing news as well as asking a question. Circuit City has phillips directv with the built in tivo for 100.00 It needs to have two lnes from a dual lnb dish to work correctly. I currently have a dual dish with two recievers. I have a multiswith on the way that will allow me to do 4 units total. My question is could I use two of these switches to give the tivo reciever its own dual line signal? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forum 5615669!

I have two SA Tivo's and one DTivo.

I think you phrased it a little wrong, but from the sound of it, you should be good to go for all of your receivers.

The multiswitch will take two inputs from a dual LNB (which is what it sounds like you have) and convert them into 4 outputs. Two of these can go to your old receivers and the other two can go to each of the inputs on the back of your DTivo for dual tuner capability. Eachot the DTivo's lines has to come directly from the multiswitch. You can't just split a DTV coax cable.

If you need any more help/calrification, don't hesitate to ask.

I will be adding a third reciever when the swith arrives. which will only leave one un-used port. Are you saying y off of that or do I need to get another switch and run a short cable from the un-used port to the in from satelite on the second switch and the run my two cables from it to the tive reciever?

What kind of multiswitch is it? If it only has four outputs, then you can hook up the DTivo with two of them and two more receivers with the ohter two.
