computer monitor question

I realize this is not strictly a "home theater" question - but my computer is where I watch my movies, so this affects me!
Today the power was turned off at my home - I was not home, so I cannot vouch for whether my computer was turned off properly by my mom. When I returned, the screen was all wonky.
Definition: Wonky (WONG-key)
- colors are smeared across the screen. If a line has a lot of text, then a gray bar is smeared across the whole screen (sort of like color bleeding).

I've tried switching the monitor on and off, changing the resolution, the refresh rate, the color depth (16 & 32 bit). Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?!?

Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid, with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?

Since it happened because of a power outage, your homeowners/renters insurance should cover it.

Sorry spaceman_spiff...sounds like your monitor got a wee bit FRIED!

That really bites, but Taxi is right, your homeowners will cover it!

Actually it sounds like his video card got jolted with too much heat. Trying taking it out and putting in an old card to see if it fixes the problem.
