Interesting info regarding the Denon DVD-3800 lockup problems - DVDfile.com forum for DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD

Most have not heard about this, but over on AVS Forum, people were complaining about the Denon DVD-3800 (a $1,200 DVD player) having severe problems (in some cases) with various DVDs.

I find it very interesting that the culprit was identified as the "laser pickup". I wonder how prevalent this is among various other DVD players we tend to experience problems with.

Thanks for those links, tomdkat, I've been considering picking up the Denon 3800 after some research & a viewing, but was unaware of those problems-- although the units I have seen did seem awfully warm. Still interested in what sounds like a very nice player, but will wait & see what happens with these issues. I like that DenonJeff takes his customers' problems to heart. Thanks again for the info
