Just about to get a HTB and was wondering...

Due to budgetary constraints (i.e. the wife) I am having to start off my HT with a HTB... probably either a Kenwood or Sony (probably the Kenwood by looking at a previous thread on here) and I was wondering a few things...

Obviously they supply speaker wire but in what lengths? and also, will I have to go out and get a coaxial audio cable or are they normally supplied?

end of line.

I received the Kenwood HTB-504 as a gift last year. The speaker wires (thin 24 gauge) that were include were:

Front L & R: 14ft long each
Center: 9 ft long
Surround L & R: 19ft long each

There was a coaxial cable that was included for the subwoofer, but no digital audio cable.

Generally the speaker wire provided is just the thing to use to tie up all that styrofoam packing material so you can haul it out to the trash. Now, I'm not suggesting $100/foot hand-braided uranium-coated ultra-ultra interconnects, but some nice 16 or 12 guage home depot wire is super cheap, and will make a difference, and you can cut it to any length. As for the digital cable, they likely won't include it unless the dvd player is also in the box, but you'd want to check the package as I could be wrong. You can use any old RCA cable if you need a coaxial cable. As the signal is binary, quality isn't an issue above a certain threshhold, and that threshhold is low. As long as you're not experiencing pops or dropouts the cable is satisfactory.
