Very basic question - DVDfile.com forum for DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD

Is it possible to play any region DVD on a PC or do I have to stick within region 2? I appreciate this is a very basic question but I am new to this whole area

You need a multi-region capable or "region free" DVD player to play non-region 2 DVDs.
