Opinions on: SONY 60" 16:9 LCD...

SONY 60" 16:9 Grand Wega XBR LCD HDTV (KF60XBR800).
Does anyone own this set or have an opinion regarding it?
How is the black level and overall picture quality?

Sure

That's actually a Rear Protector TV, not LCD. I sat in front of it last year, watched a short Jurassic Park entrail and was took back by the vivid colours and excellent detail. It sits on a lovely stand too, and it's quite affordable at £4,995 UK.

It is a rear projection LCD TV. So, it projects the image on the back of the screen using LCD technology to create the image.

was this at a store, because im sure it wont look as nice unless you want to cut its life in half, the picture and color were probably up as high as they go

I saw the first run of grand vegas when they made their way to my local HT store and I wasnt very impressed. The RP Pioneer Elite still looked quite abit better. But than some time later I went back and saw the newer models, and was slightly more immpressed, but I still think that when all is said and done, its an RPTV, LCD or not, and has flaws that dont warrent such a high price tag.

It was at a store, although I can't see them bothering to alter every TV so colour settings are at max. I wasn't sure whether it was an LCD or DLP or CRT projector in it.

i have seen them do it to try and make a sale, but it all depends the type of store, Bestbuy will do this with any flatscreen TV, they dont bother with the non flats. who wants a round TV anyway
