Pioneer Vsxd811s Volume

I got a problem with the pioneer vsxd811s. i have to turn it up to 20 db, or even 18/16 db to get it to pump out some power. it only goes up to about 10db. anybody got that problem too?
is there something wrong with it.

Do you mean -20db? Have you calibrated your speakers after getting this receiver?

When you go through the calibration process, you can calibrate for the "reference" volume level of your choice (within the range of the SPL meter) and gauge the performance you're getting based on what you experience during the calibration.

For example, when Chromy and 1138 were at my place, we calibrated my speakers at 70db (maybe 75db I forget) and after the channel volume adjustments, I ended up with a "master volume" set at -15db and speaker channels at about -5db for the front mains and center channel and that MORE than filled my room with sound. In fact, during the subwoofer calibration we found a door to a closet at the back of my room would vibrate!

What are the speaker channel settings and what kind of speakers are you trying to "drive" with the receiver?

If possible, can you post the ohm resistance your speakers support?

Also, what size room are you in? What are the dimensions?

Peace....

I don't know how you came to these speaker channel volume settings. What if you turn UP the volume of the speaker channels a bit.

If you DID get these values from a calibration you performed, what was your "reference" volume that you used for your calibration?

Peace...

Peace.....
