As good as Avia or a cheap rip-off?

This may belong in Software, but I posted it here because it deals with setting up my home theater....

I came across this on Ebay....does anybody know if this is a good substitute for the Avia setup DVD (it is MUCH cheaper) or is this a cheap imitation?
Thanks in advance-
MG

I'm not familiar with this disc, so I can't comment on how " good" it is.

However, I feel the $35 - $40 for Avia is VERY MUCH worth it since you get "trusted" reference test patterns and tones as well as the disc being popular, so it will be easy to get help using it.

You could try with the disc on eBay, but I recommend buying Avia.

Peace.....

I've got a version of this one, and after having tried Avia, I can recommend against this one.

On the plus side, their audio tests were pretty much spot on.

Down side, many of the video calibration tests were off.

So I'd go with Avia.

Well actually the other one looks pretty nice.

But AVIA is the bomb.
It was a HUGE improvement over my THX Optimizer.

I have the Gold version of this disc, I like it better than the THX versions that come with some DVDs, however I haved used Avia and highly recommend using that over this one. It works alright on my crappy 27" Rca TV but I wouldn't use it on an expensive TV. Just my opinion.

I have the platinum version of this disc.

Get the Avia or VE. The audio/video tests on these discs is VERY sub-par, and the platinum is supposed to be better than the Silver disc.

As always on ebay, buyer beware. (I hope you're not srmsrmsrm...)
