Panasonic SAHE100 is it a good purchase???

Ok i have posted before that i would get a new receiver and never have. Well i just want soem opinions on the receiver above before i purchase it tomorrow.

Here's a picture of the receiver

and here are the specs

Its onsale for $400 Canadian and i'm just wondering if its a)worth my money b)a good receiver/brand name

I can't afford a THX receiver (i wish i could) but this seems to be a great deal for the money too me. Right in my price range.

Hmmm, the specs don't list the number of toslink (optical) digital audio inputs vs coax digital audio inputs. Depending on how many components with digital audio outputs you will be using, you might want/need a recevier with the correct number of digital audio inputs to support your components.

What will you be connecting to the receiver?

Peace.....

My Toshiba SD2800, PS2, XBox, GameCube and my TV. These are the items i will be connecting to the receiver.

Here are better specs from Best Buy Plus i think from Panasonic themselves

From the looks of it, the system doesn't support DD EX I thought if DTS ES is on shouldn't EX as well. Is it still a good buy i should i hold off now.

Is there a good deal arround you for the Pioneer VSX-D811S? It shows at the Pioneer site to MSRP the same price as the Panasonic, and I would bet dollars to doughnuts that the Pioneer woule walk all over that Panasonic.

food for thought

Its listed at a whopping $600 Cnd

I was told by a saleman that the Pioneer tends to over heat and recommended the cheaper Panasonic. I almost bought it BUT it turns out i need to buy a new Sub for the system. My RCA HTIAB Sub wont work cause its not a power sub. Looks like another $200 now for that as i can't reach to much inot my pocket. So i was looking around and saw this form Future Shop.

Its a Quest 8 inch sub

The reviews seem to be pretty good as my room isn't that big 9 x 9 feet basically in total. So i just need something to get the job done.

Why wouldn't it work? Don't you just route your front speaker wires through your sub now? If that's what you do, you'll still be able to do that on the new receiver.

My only complaint about the Panasonic SA-HE100 was that the SA-HE100S (Silver) wasn't available at Future Shop but then again my uncle hook me up [Kramer] "Retail are for suckers![/Kramer]

The value, specs are great! 2 Components IN, 3 Optical IN and dts-es. Why would you care if DOLBY-EX is not supported?

And it's Consumer Reports' Best Buy!

Well my sub only works with speaker wire which i was told isn't supported by any new receiver on the market. It connects like the rest of my speakers with its own section to hook up. I would have to buy a new sub which is plugged in to its own plug/power source which would then be connected by a seperate cable wire to my receiver.

or, you could pick up a monoblock power amp and use the sub preamp out into that to power your sub. The other alternative is to power your sub through the mains ( does that sub have a pass through on the speaker wires? ) Then, mains to large, and the sub to no, so the DD redirects the basss to the mains.

No DDEX means that you can't watch Star Wars in EX. There are a few other titles that only come in EX as well. It's up to you weather or not you want to sacrafice DDEX for this receiver. I'd say hold out for the Pioneer ( and I never had any heating problems with mine )

My Pioneer Elite VSX-24TX does get warm, but that has NOT impacted its performance AT ALL. My cabinet does NOT allow for proper venting, so that causes a lot of my "warming" problems.

The Pioneer should suit your needs nicely...

Peace.....

Ok i need soem help i bought a Pioneer but its not the 811s. The one i bought is the 810s which is six channel. It says DTS SE compatible. Dod that mean it has ES or that it only has DTS 5.1. I thought it was the 811s and think i might of made a mistake on buying the receiver. Is it still ok or do i return and spend some more (as the 811s wasn't present)

Well, I am seeing that it will do dts ES, but I am not seeing anything about DD EX. Try using the first LotR release as that has DD EX ( I think the EE has one as well, but I have my PC torn apart for MB replacement ATM. ) If there is an EX light for DD then you are set, if not, it will be up to you weather or not you want to return this one and look for an 811.

Yeah i tried tonight and turns out it only has DD and that its also only has Pro-Logic and i want Pro-Logic II for my GameCube games. I am returning it tomorrow and search for another new receiver. But i don't think they have the 811s from Pioneer

Here's the store (i bought from today) website. I need something good but not too expensive at the same time. They are in Candian pricing and if i have to i shall add an extra $100 for the EX and DTS ES.

Thanks for everyone's help so far. I'll get one yet

well, they list the 711. Ask them how long it will be before they get the 811 in stock.

That is what I would do.

But if they don't would you recommend Yamaha. I might try the either the 630 or if i decide to swing the extra money the 730 version.

Well no Yamaha or new receiver at all now. I returned my Pioneer D810S back to the store and never knew that Yamaha receivers were so much. I then went across the street to my local Future Shop and just about purchased the Kenwood V6060 receiver but they upped the price on the receiver from yesturday's $30 off. So i held off on buying it. Tomorrow i will be checking out another 1 maybe shops where they carry Onkyo receivers (no one else carries them) Plus i will be searching to see if the Pioneer D811S is in as well. But HOPEFULLY i will have something real soon now.

Well XMas came and i now have 2 new speakers to add to my ever improving Home Theater. I got these Mission 771 black speakers as my big gift yesturday and they are pretty nice.

Tomorrow i shall hopefully add my new Power Subwoofer to my receiver and speakers as well. Wish me luck.

Congrats. I bet those sound sweet with that Marantz I did notice, however, that they seem to be made upside down. You may want to return them and get another pair
