Cheapie 13-20" TV

Hey everyone, got some xmas cash and I'm looking to get a new tv for my office/bedroom.

Looking for something the less than $120 category. 13-20" screen. No other requirements really, other than RCA inputs would be nice. Just looking for something that's pretty okay picture and quality wise, brand isn't too important. This isn't going to be my main set or anything, just something to watch tv on while I'm working at my computer.

Was doing some general browsing around online this evening, just some glancing around circuity city and walmart.com a little eariler.

Was looking at a 20" APEX on the circuity city site. APX AT2002. Seems nice enough feature wise, then I started looking at the reviews which were mixed at best. Mostly people calling it garbage.

Planning on doing some shopping around in person later this week, nothing quite as fun as pressing buttons and smudging screens.

But before I went out looking, I thought I'd see what kind of comments you guys had.

I've got a JVC AV14F703 in my bedroom. It's a 14" flat screen tv with Component-In video. Granted I have it connected to my DVD player via an S-Video cable.

The flat screen is very nice, helps eliminate glare in my fairly bright bedroom. For under $200, it has a great quality picture (probably even better if it was utilizing the Component Video Ins), but hey, if I want quality, I'll go downstairs to the Hitachi. Even with S-Video, the picture is pretty amazing for a small set.

I realize this is about $80 more than you're looking to spend, but if you get the idea in your head that you want something small of significant quality, I highly reccommend this unit.

A buddy of mine has a 13" Panisonic, which is pretty much a bare bones unit. It does have mono audio and RCA composite video-in. Not sure of the model number, but I can't imagine Panasonic has a large number of 13" tvs on the market. Said he paid $100 for it. Fits nicely on his desk.

Okay. Thanks for the comments.

Wasn't necessarily looking for great quality, just something 'not terrible'.

As for Panasonics. If there TV line is anything like thier VCR line, then there are about a million different models.

Seriously, I think I looked once and they had about 20 different VCR models in one year.

But yeah, I love my Panasonic VCR and DVD players.

Well, I'm thinking about getting an APEX PF2020 for my bedroom. Cheap, flatscreen, and it has stereo inputs. And it sells for about $130.

I think the Apex is a good choice. They may not be top end, but you get a pretty good TV for the price. My roomate bought one last year, and I was very impressed with it, and another buddy just picked up a 27" Apex that is equally impressive.

My advice to you would be find which ever has the most features that you want, is the largest, and is the least expensive. In that price catagory I doubt you'll find much difference between brands.

I don't know which brands or models will be affected but I heard on the news a couple weeks ago that the price of TVs from China will be going up (maybe as much as 3x). Apparently China is getting hit with tariffs for "price dumping".

The 20" Apex is only $69.99 this week at Circuit City (not the flatscreen one though)
