Region issues
I bought a copy of The Final Countdown from an UK website, because some one here said that they purchased the disc and found it to be r0. When I got it (and gave it to my dad as a gift) we found that it wouldnt play in our old first gen RCA, or in his newer 200 disc carosel, and it wouldnt play in my PS2. It did however play in my dads old Dell Inspiron 7000 notebook (we havent tried it yet in his new notebook). Now not only did the person here say it was r0 but even the lady who I emailed from the website said she thought the same thing. So I was wondering if there may be some sort of copy guard against r0 discs (since the majority of them are bootlegs) or if the older laptop is simply region free. Anyone have any Ideas?

From what I've seen, the only DVDs for The Final Countdown are Region 2 and 4. I'm also pretty sure there's no such thing as a guard against Region 0 discs (such a guard would be quite stupid, as many, many non-bootleg discs are Region 0, also), so you're screwed.
