Television
While inquiring on this site about playing Canadian DVD's in the UK somebody made mention that I could take my tv's to the uk as well.
Can anybody give me information on what I would need to run my Canadian television in the UK. Things are so small there and I'd love to take mine with me when I move. Thanks again for any help received. |

Canada runs on 110v, but the UK is 220v. You will need a voltage converter as well as a plug adapter. Some TVs may support 220 with a flip of a switch, but that depends on the model and probably isn't the norm. Your DVD player will most likely need a voltage converter as well. Remember that DVDs sold in the UK will not play on a typical region 1 (North American) player. If you want to watch something besides your DVDs, remember that European TV is in PAL format, but North America uses the NTSC format. NTSC TVs will not display PAL material. I think you'll need some sort of converter here, too. Like I said, I'm not an expert. Get some other facts and opinions on this before you carry your TV across the Atlantic. |
