Sony DVPN325 vs. Sony DVPN315/B vs. Panasonic DVDS35S
Im looking into buying a $100 or less DVD player for my mom..... These three looked the best to me...... which one is best for casual home usage (without surround, and on a 27" normal tv), but while still having a relatively good audio and video quality?..... any help is appreciated.... thanks in advance

the sony 315 and 325 are virtually identical - the biggest difference being the DVD+R compatibility on the 325. The 325 is the replacement for the year-old 315, so out of those two, go with the 325. As for features, it's pretty slim on the bells and whistles, but it's fine for the casual user.
I can't speak for the Panasonic, as I haven't used it, but I hear good things about most of the Panasonic models... |

Since we're talking a 27" analog TV, just about any entry level player from Pioneer, Sony, Toshiba, or Panasonic should suit your mom's needs well.
Check out the "Glitch Exhaust" and see if any of the players you're investigating have been mentioned there. Use the search feature to do this. Personally, I recommend one of the Pioneer entry level units: DV-353k DV-354 These are interlaced only players and should work out just fine and be VERY "low maintenance" and "low headache" machines. I also recommend checking out the Toshiba SD-2900 or the SD-2800 as this should be a great machine as well. The MSRPs of these machines is about $120 - $130, which means the "street price" will be close to about half that. Good luck! ![]() Peace...
