all I can see is that it doesnt seem to be significantly cheaper than the Panny or the Sony.

Panasonic makes a DLP RPTV...the Panasonic 52" model looks VERY sweet

Here's a link to the Panasonic model
(it's on a stand in that pic, it really isn't that tall)

Sony has 2 LCD RPTV's

Yeah thats what I was reffering to. The non-dlp sets of that size are signifcantly less exensive.

The Grand Vega Series is Sonys offering, and they are quite nice I forgot what Panny calles theirs, the picture is great but the case is hidious (IMHO).

oops I didnt check out Videoworx link, I havnt seen that one before its normal looking
this is the one I was reffering to.

piglet, your link is for an LCD RPTV, not DLP...there are differences between quality/refresh rates/etc...and in my opinion, the DLP's look much brighter...

I will be viewing this set alongside the Sony 50" LCD TV (KF50XBR800) tomorrow. I will post my views soon after.

Cool! Will you be using HD broadcasts for your test material or DVD? If DVD, what DVDs will you use as your test material?

Peace...

I just viewed this set today at BESTBUY and it looked
fantastic: incredible colors and black level. The set's
contrast was remarkable. I played both DVD and HD
material for demo purposes. The SONY set really looked
poor next to the SAMSUNG. This is the set that I will be purchasing for secondary viewing as our primary home
theatre setup is a RUNCO DLP projector.

Did you adjust the video settings on either set? Keep in mind, the Sony might have had "bad" video settings due to some other customer screwing around with them.

What was the price difference between the Samsung and the Sony?

Good luck with your purchase!

Peace...

Yes, tomdkat, I did ajust the Sony set. What a major
difference in picture quality. The Samsung set blew
the Sony out of the water! The Sony set was $3,500
and the Samsung set was $4,000.
