So far it's very good, I've burned 4 discs now using Princo 1x media. I'm using 1x media because it's the cheapest for now.

oh come on, 2x's aren't that much more (and make a HUGE difference), but I will agree - I use 4x for special occasions. I would stay away from Verbatim DVD-r's and +r's, they apparently make good coasters using the Sony 500 series (although they rock on all other burners). I use FUJI and Maxell DVD-r's in my Sony 500 and Pioneer 105 and I've never had a coaster.

The 1x media costs $1.79, the 2x is $2.99 (CDN). So far waiting 1 hour for a full DVD to burn doesn't bug me, if it starts to annoy me too much, I'll splurge the extra buck twenty and go with the 2x. Ritek 4x is $4.99 here, I bought one to try but haven't used it yet.
