Laserdisc Player Recommendations

Hi,

I have been attempting to transfer some laserdiscs to DVD. I no longer have a LD player, but have been borrowing one from a friend. I have to give it back soon, so I am thinking of picking one up. What I would like is a decent player I can use to go S-Video out into my PC. I would not like to spend a fortune though. I just want something to use for my transfers. If anyone has any decent, yet relatively inexpensive suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks a lot,

Zack

probably the best suggestion is to pick up a decent used unit...try ebay, or local used/pawn shops.
good luck

Yah. That's what I was thinking. Any recommendations on players to either look for or to avoid?

Thanks a lot!

Kurtis Bahr has a number of players for sale. He buys them used and reconditions them and has an outstanding reputation.

He recently listed these (4/27):
Quote:
1 each CLD-D406: AC-3 RF Output and Optical Digital, with original
remote/manual/box
1 each CLD-D504: AC-3 RF Output, unit only
1 each CLD-D604: AC-3 RF Output, Optical Digital and digital memory for
CLV effects, unit only
1 each CLD-D703: Coax and Optical Digital and digital memory for CLV
effects, DVNR, with Pioneer remote but not 703 remote
1 each CLD-D704: AC-3 RF, Coax and Optical Digital and digital memory
for CLV effects, DVNR, with Pioneer remote but not 703 remote

Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing any of these
units before I list them on eBay

Kurtis
I don't know if he's listed them on ebay yet.

The prizes of the bunch are the 703 and 704, which have some of the best image quality output.

Avoid Sony LD players.

PM me if interested and I will give you Kurtis' email address. I think he's located in the DC area.

My only recommendation is to get a single sided player. I had two different two sided players, and both gave me nothing but trouble. I bought a used single sider from eBay for about $40 delivered, and it works like a dream. All have been Pioneers. I liked everything else about the two sided players, but I think the large amount of moving parts necessary to have the machine play both sides is what does 'em in.
