LCD vs DLP - A study
Interesting article...
"A few weeks ago, Texas Instruments stopped by to tell us about a study they conducted over the past year with the Munsell Color Science Laboratory at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The study was designed to compare long term reliability of LCD and DLP projectors, and discovered what appears to be real problems with LCD technology." Thanks for the article Ruined. I'll say right up front, that I've owned an LCD projector for around 3 years and haven't noticed a 'blue-loss'.....yet. I think the article was a bit biased coming from TI and all. It also stressed the crap out of the units and I don't think most HT users (at least me anyway) would punish their projectors the way the study did.
With that said, I still thought it was a good read. One thing they didn't cover though, was the 'rainbow effect' and whether that would/could increase in time with the DLP units. Thoughts on that, anyone ? PS - I wish we knew which units were tested !! |
