Is my player "PAL" ? - DVDfile.com forum for DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD

Probably a very stupid question, but how can I tell if my Pioneer Elite DV-05 player is PAL ? (I don't have the manual w/me).

If you purchased it in North America, why would you think it's PAL?

you mean, can it play PAL DVDs? very unlieky. PAL is a video standard used in Europe, Australia, and some parts of Asia and few othre contries. Here, our standard is NTSC.
Unless I'm mistaken, just like most (if not all) major brand players sold in North America, your payer does not have a built-in NTSC<->PAL converter, and will most likely be region-locked anyway.

If necessary, you can probably get your player modified to play multi-region DVDs and convert PAL to NTSC, etc.
