It's actually Dolby Digital vs DTS. And it's longtime popular debate among HT geeks. If you do a serach on the forum, you'll find much more info than will be rehashed here.

and beyond technical differences, most people (but not everyone) think DTS is a more aggressive soundtrack, with more lower frequency and overall just sounds better

I would say a LOT of people feel this way, but I'm not sure about most.

I've heard a few Dolby tracks that best their DTS counterparts: From Hell, The Rock Criterion Collection, and Men in Black Superbit. But nine times out of ten, DTS is better in my experiences.
