A question about Coax Audio Cable

Okay, after I moved in, I decided to hook up my home theater. In the past, in was a ProLogic system. Back in June, I upgraded to a JVS 6020-something digital receiver. My player only had an optical output, so that's what I was using. Right before my stuff was packed up, I bought a new 5 Disc Samsung player, which also had a coax option.
So, I go to hook up my system, and I plug the coax in, and I get nothing. I plug in the optical, and I get sound.
Normally, I would pull out my manual for the receiver (couldn't find anything about the problem in the Player's manual), unfortunately, the manual is buried somewhere in my home. We still have a lot of unpacking left to do, so I haven't had a chance to look.

Do any of the great minds have any idea why this is happening?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This happened to me once, and while frantically searching I discovered my options on the DVD player were not set to Bitstream. I hope this may help you.

Unfortunately, it doesn't. Sometime a go, I helped a friend hook up his Home Theater in a box, and after a lot of frustration, I figured out that that was the problem. I made sure my player was set right, which is why it works with the optical cable.
Thanks though.

It sounds like your receiver isn't setup to accept a digital audio signal from the coax digital input. Maybe you need to enable that input or something?

Dig up the manual or try to find a copy of the manual online.

Peace...

That may be it. I'll have to find my manual. I tried pushing all the buttons, but it's possible that I'm missing something.
