Hello All, I own a JVC DVD Player model xv-fa900bk. it takes about 40 seconds for one picture to load (WAY TOO LONG!) Im gonna see about returning it, my 30 day policy is over, in the meantime, Anyone have any suggestions/tricks on making this player load faster jpeg's? thanks in advance!

Are these "high resolution" JPEGs? Maybe reducing the resolution of the images might help them to load faster. What resolution (in pixels if possible) are we talking about?

Peace...

I have another friend that just bought a $60 dollar DVD player, and plays all jpegs in a flash! please keep your advise coming! thanks!

Ok, get a new DVD player...

Seriously, I'm not very familiar with JVC DVD players, let alone JPEG image viewing. Maybe your JVC is just very slow at loading JPEGs. What kind of DVD playe did your friend use that loaded them quickly?

I believe the Pioneer DV-563a supports JPEG viewing as well as DVD-Audio and SACD. Maybe you could audition this player (buy it for under $200 at Best Buy and return it within 30 days) and see what you think.

Sorry I can't provide more useful info.

Peace...

I will be looking into that pioneer you mentioned.....thanks for your help!

Well, I don't mean go out and get a new player right now. Give other JVC DVD player owners a chance to respond to your question, call JVC customer service and see if they have any recommendations. The only reason I mention the Pioneer is if it loads the JPEGs in a "reasonable" amount of time, you would also get DVD-Audio _and_ SACD playback capability, which might also be of interest to you. For $200 (provided you can afford that), it's not a bad player to at least check out if you can't get your JVC DVD player issues resolved.

Peace...

Great Advise! thanks tomdkat, hopefully some JVC owners will respond. I called JVC already, they say its normal, Im gonna take the player to where I purchased, show them how slow a jpeg loads and see what happens. its a good player, its just the jpeg feature really sucks! and I just bought a digital camera, so I will be using that feature alot. I already found the pioneer player on EBay, well under $200, if worse comes to worse, JVC doesnt have SACD, it might be my excuse!

While you are at the store, have then try your disc on other DVD players (JVC and other brands) to see how it behaves.

Then how can it be a "good" player? (j/k)

I don't know how much you found it for on eBay, but I would get it from a place like BestBuy with a good return policy in the event you don't like the player.

Good luck!

Peace...
