DVD Car equipment

sorry, thought this would be the best place since it is in a way related to home theaters

Ive been consider gettign a DVD player and screen for my car, but i dont know much about them compared with cd head units which i am pretty versed. For one, are they like CD headunits and Changers, where only the same brand matches up usually for it to work. i would welcome any suggestions if anyone has the knowledge here. thanks

This should make for great discussion since I know nothing about DVD players for cars.

Peace...

Some one here has a pretty sweet setup in a civic, they have pics in the My Home Theater forum, edit here ya go . I have a friend who hooked up his bronco, it was really a cool setup, all pioneer equipment, I dont know if that was for a reason or not though.

Car.

Home.

Hmm.

Didn't realize DVDs in Cars was considered "Home Theater".

Unless you're living in your car, of course, and if you're living in your car and trying to build a home theater system in it, I question thy priorities.

Well, obviously he's not trying to setup a "home theater" in his car, but it's still a good question.

Can you imagine having a DVD-Audio or SACD capable player in your car providing full multi-channel audio while you drive?

Dolby Labs is interested in surround sound in your car:

oh man, surround in a car would be sweet, and that civic was pretty nice, though im not looking for that type of screen, im looking for one thats in dash and slide out and flips up.

i ask about the compatibility because the stuff im looking at is on ebay and if it doesnt matter, i can save my self a butt load of money, and i also can do the installation myself
