Surround Back Subwoofer?

If anyone has the Pioneer VSXD811S reciever, i got a question for you. When you select Surround Back or SB as it is on the Reciever, it also gives you the option for SB Subwoofer. What does that mean and what does it do?

Th SB amp can be set to either a Surround Back speaker, or, if you have a passive sub, an amp for that.

SO

You can set it to power your surround back speaker ( or two ), or you can use the amp to power your subwoofer. Just not both.

Hope this helps.

so it will send LFE to a passive sub. so you can have two subwoofers?
i dont think that amp is too powerful though.

also, i have an extra speaker lying around, one of those MTX monsters.
it goes down to about 25hz. can I just plug that into the SB SUB output to be an additional sub. it's got a 10'' woofer, just like my subwoofer.

Well, it could work that way, but what kind of enclosure does that sub have, and is it a car sub, or a home sub, and do you realy want a LFE sub run off of a single channel of a receiver ( think power supply ) that is also running 5 other channels. What I did when I had mine was run the rear center between two speakers ( LOTS of room ) and had TWO dedicated subs

What I suggest is, try it out and see what you think. If you are happy with it, GO FOR IT! If not, you just have to pick up the wire and speaker and reset the amp. No big deal.

Man, I love fuckin around with my equipment too.

no, the MTX i'm talking about is a speaker, like the rest of my Speakers, the MONITOR 10. I just somehow ended up with an extra one.
and I was wondering if there was a way for me to Use it as a second sub.

they go pretty low, and if I just send the LFE to it(splitting the LFE channel with a Y splitter and getting an old reciever to power it)It could work.
or better yet, I could use the woofer off the speaker, which I think is the same one used on their powered Subs, and make my own enclosure for it.
i know thats pretty off topic.
