Going from s-video to component on a 24".

I have a 24" Apex Flatscreen and am using s-video right now. When I first bought my TV and fired it up I noticed instantly that the reds were really red and bled a little. I wanted to know if I upgraded to component if this problem would still exist. Also, would a difference between s-video and component even be noticeable on a 24"?

Thanks.

As far as I understand, you will get a better picture...period with component video cables. Your system is only as good as your weakest link.

I noticed a difference when I went from svideo to component on my 27'' vega. But it sounds like you would benefit most from a calibration. Get a copy of Avia, or VE, and then see if you still feel the need to upgrade your cables.

Where can I find a copy of Avia or VE? I checked Best Buy and couldn't find it.

Your best bet is you buy a copy online at a site like DVD Empire or DeepDiscountDVD.com.

It sounds like you need to adjust your color settings. If you have any THX certified DVDs with the "THX Optimode" utility on them, you can use that in the interim to do a color calibration. The "THX Optimode" utility isn't the best, but if you picked up either Star Wars DVD or Finding Nemo, you can use that utility for now. Then once you get VE or Avia, you can perform a more accurate calibration.

Good luck and welcome to DVD File!

Peace...
