Feedback on the new Toshiba 5960 HDMI capable DVD player

The Toshiba 5960 isn't even mentioned on the Toshiba product pages yet.

Here is the feedback.

Peace...

hmmm....

My only question is...

Is there a box that you can use to convert the HDMI output to RGBHV?

Or, would you want to?

They also have a lengthy thread here about the 5960.

I'm not sure you would want to since HDMI also carries audio and provides a pure digital connection. RGBHV is analog, correct?

Peace...

That would be correct. But, what if your display only has an RGBHV input? CRT Projectors ( specially mine ) don't have the HDMI, or even a DVI input.

You could always go composite or S-Video...

Seriously, I would imagine this player would still have component video outputs. If there was a "breakout" cable for HDMI connections, I would imagine it would have the RGBHV video connections and some kind of audio connections to make sure all of the digital data would be output somewhere. This is just a guess on my part.

Peace...

no component...

But...

From what I am reading, the scaling feature is only available from the HDMI output. That is the only reason I ask...
