TV Green Bar

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...goryId=cat03006

You can see what TV I have in that link. The problem that I am having is that anytime that I watch a 2:35:1 aspect ratio movie, there is a small green bar at the bottom of the image, the bottom of the image; not the bottom of the tv. What's the problem with my tv? Is there anyway to fix it?

Has this always happend, or is this something that just started happening? How long have you been using the TV and the DVD player?Does this happen every time you watch anything 2.35 or only DVDs? Assuming that it does happen when you watch DVDs, how do you have your DVD connected to the TV (component, svideo, composite, etc)?

I would say first start by making sure what ever connection you are using is connected tightly. If thats not it, try swaping interconnects, if your using component, try another component cable, if that doesnt work, try an Svideo cable. If nothing seems to affect the bar, try unhooking everything (receiver, vcr, cable box, anything and everything, if you are using a power strip unplug the TV and DVD player from that and simply plug the two into a wall outlet) than hook just the DVD player to the TV. If the problem presists than try swaping DVD players, if at that point you still have a problem it is definatly something in the TV.

If it is the TV, have you ever adjusted any of the video settings? You might want to try reseting everything back to the defaults. Also are you certain the bar is stationary? If it is actually multiple green bars scrolling up or down the image, it might be something called a ground loop, either way you should be able to isolate it by doing what I have already suggested, the solution is just simpler.

Also what type, brand, and model TV is it? Your link doesnt work.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to ask...How large a bar are we talking about?

Why must it be all three colors? And if it happens to yours, would you then have had a/ the problem? Are we talking about a direct view tube, RPTV,... what?

I have been using Direct View TVs. It used to happen on my Wega whenever I used compressed (16:9) mode, there was a line which looked white from viewing distance. But on the screen it used to be a thin (the single TV line size) red, blue and green lines.
I recently bought a PHILIPS HDTV where I use the 16:9 mode to watch PAL DVDs (My DVD player ONKYO is not PAL progressive, only NTSC pro). I do see a thin line on top of the picture.

Sorry that the link didn't work, this one should.

And to answer a few questions, I am using high definition cables and the green bar is pretty thin. It is not very big, but still noticable. You can't see it as well on a darker film, but on bright films, you can see it clearly. I have had the tv for one week now. This problem only happens on 2:35:1 movies. If I watch any other widescreen oar then I don't see it. When I watch a 2:35:1 widescreen flick, the green bar appears at the bottom of the widescreen image, right above the black bar that would be shown on a widescreen tv, it does not appear at the bottom of the tv. Once again, it only appears when I watch a 2:35:1 movie. Thanks for the help so far.

What is hidden convergence? Also, I just put in another 2:35:1 dvd, and I noticed there is also a very tiny(same size as green bar) blue bar at the top of the widescreen image.

Ok, I should have done this to begin with. I played one of my 2:35:1 dvds on another tv and differnt dvd player. This is a full screen tv that I did, and if you look REALLY carefully, you can see a tiny tiny tiny green line at the bottom of the 2:35:1 image, so I guess thats just what RGB does when you play it, or are 3 more of my tvs and 3 more of my dvd players messed up? I think my new widescreen tv is just a hell of a lot bigger than my other tvs, that I finnaly noticed something like this. Or am I wrong?

hit menu> goto video> look for convergence > do a full 9 point convergence, just do your best to get all a-lined, ie white
