Which way is better to connect the subs on my Deftech BP2002 to my receiver?.

There are two ways to connect the powered subwoofers contained in my Definitive BP2002TL speakers. There is a full range low level input and an optional LFE input. Which way should I connect it? Currently I have it connected through the full range low level input. Which do you guys think is the better way to connect it?

what receiver do you have, if it filters the sub out connect it to the LFE input, if the subout is full range connect it to the low level.
The easist way to find out if it is full range or not is to connect amother amplifer to with a speaker, if its only bass, connect sub to LFE, if full range connect to low level

I have a Denon 2802. The way that the fullrange low level input is connected to the receiver is to the front left, front right pre-outs as it sais it should be connected that way according to the instruction guide for the BP2002TL Definitive speakers. On the back of the receiver there is output that sais sub on it.

Do you have a dedicated Subwoofer? If so, I'd leave it as is ( LR Preout to the line level in ). If no subwoofer, then switch that bad boy over to the Sub out, and hook it up to the LFE input, till you get a dedicated sub.

If I were you, I would contact Definitive, they should be able to answer for you. Or at least wherever you bought the speakers.

I do not know how it is best to hook up speakers with powered subs in them. For what those speakers cost, they should have incredible customer service.

Good Luck!

Do you have a sub? Those things (your DefTechs) are supposed to go pretty low for towers....but, a good sub will make a difference if you don't already have one. It lessens the "load" on the mains and the amp/receiver....I'd leave 'em full range if you have a sub. Then again, I'm partial to low end Let the sub do it's "thing".

Edited: Sorry, didn't read Chlngr1970's reply.....go with that

I only have the subs that are contained in the Front left and front right tower speakers. I was thinking of getting a Y adapter and try connecting it through the sub out on my receiver and hear how that sounds.

Thanks for the advise.

By dedicated you mean a sub that is only a sub and not part of the front tower speakers?

I wish I had more money also. The reason I got the Definitive BP2002TL speakers with the built in powered subwoofer is because in my current entertainment room, I don't have space for a separate sub. Therefore the reason to buy the speakers I bought, I should say my Dad bought.

I would connect a "Y" spliter to your "Sub Out" pre-out on the back of the rec. then run a sub cable to each LFE input of your towers. That's how I have my pair of 15" Deftec hooked up.
