Klipsch Speakers

Does anyone own them?
What are the various opinions on them here?
Thanks

Klipsch's are good. I have auditioned the newer R(B, C, F) series and they are an improvement over the older series. They have their "own sound" that may or may not suit everyone's tastes.

I, personally, have a set of their ProMedia series for my PC and they f'in rock! They play very, very loud with minimal distortion. They are quite surprising. They are articulate, detailed, and have a nice warm midrange. Having said that, they can get very bright with acoustical music.

Give 'em a listen.

Yeah, I second the enthusiams on the ProMedias. I got the 4.1 set up for my PC and the sound is really incredible. If their home theater stuff is anything like their PC speakers, then they are definitely quality.

I've noticed the speakers at my local Regal Cinemas are all Klipsch and sound excellent.

From what I have read, they are decent HT speakers, but are not very musical at all. For what they go for, I think there are a lot of other options (like axiom) that might give a little more bank for the buck.

I've got Klipsch for my rears, Axioms for my L and R and Center, and Paradigm for the sub.

I'm not the greatest audiophile, but the Klipsch are the fourth pair of rears that I bought and that was about three years ago. If that tells you anything.

The sound and clarity is first-rate, and I've never questioned about replacing, or upgrading them. As for the fronts, I won't replace the Axioms. They are just that good.

Not putting anyone's gear down, but I'm not partial to Klipsch. I've tried to listen to them critically on numerous occasions over the years, but I've always found them to be fatiguing after a short listen.

The only way to know if they are right for you is to audition a set. Your ears will tell you if they're right for you.

I'd agree with that -- for the price I paid a few years back on their Synergy SB-2 bookshelf line, vs. what I paid for my Axiom M22ti's, I felt ripped off. I didn't mind the Synergy's sound when it came to movie -- I just hated their music qualities. Though I suppose the Synergy speakers weren't all that high-end, but their price was so close to my Axioms. Anyways, that's just my experience. If you like their sound, that's all that matters.

If you're talking about the floorstanders with the horn loaded tweeters...well, I personally found them to be very bright sounding - or as Frank_Z said....fatiguing.

But hey, if they sound good to you....well, you know the rest.

Many people I have heard, complain that after a few minutes of listening to Klipsch speakers they begin to hurt because of the horn tweeters. I would stay away from them because of all of the bad press they get. If you absolutely have to buy something at Best Buy, go with Athena. If you can branch out of Best Buy, There are many great brands that could be recommended here.

Oh, and Maximum Jonah, you may want to tes out the Axiom QS series, they may just give you a reason to upgrade thos Klipsch surrounds. I have owned both the QS4's and currently own 3 Qs8s. They are so enveloping in HT while still making DVD-A's sound proper.

My roommate uses a Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 setup in our living room. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I have a 7.1 set up with Klipsch reference series. I use RF-7s as mains, RC-7 for the center, and the RS-7s for the surrounds(actually using my old Pinnacle speakers for the back surrounds, as they are not very important enough to spend $500 on a pair Klipsch bookshelf speakers to replace them).

I absolutley love them. For movies the Klipsch sound can't be beat(IMHO). The "brightness" that everyone refers to can be tamed with a good receiver. I use a Denon 3805, as Denon receivers are known to have a "warm/soft" sound, it makes a great match with Klipsch. And music, is amazing. The Led Zepplin DTS concert sounds unbelievable. I've found that electric guitars and horn sounds(orchestra) sound particularly crisp.

About fatigue. With movies I don't get fatigued. I know it can happen, as it felt like Bruce Lee did a number on me after sitting through Lord of the Rings at the Imax. With music I do get a little fatigued as it's a constant barrage of sound. But I like that. Ever been to a rock concert? Even if your sitting down, the music kicks your arse, and makes you feel fatigued afterwords! To me the Klipsch make it sound like being there(better since the warm up band doesn't deafen you before the main performance). Of course, you'll want to listen to them before you buy.

I also happen to own the Pro Media 5.1, but I got them before I even knew about Klipsch, as they simply sounded better than the rest of the PC speakers.
