Axiom Speakers vs Polk/Infinity????

I know a lot of you out there like to push Axiom speakers and I'm really looking hard at the start of my rebuild at the front speakers, floor standing M50ti's.

My question is for the "Axiom Guys" out there. Have you had other speakers (Infinity, Polk, Difinitive...) and compared them and just absolutely loved the Axioms...or have you only had the Axioms and love them?

I've mentioned b4 I'm rebuilding my HT. I've already got the TV for the next 10 years, the Panny 50" LCD, got a Pioneer 563A, now I'm looking at speakers and receivers. I'm really liking the Denon 1804 and I've read via Consumer Reports (have not heard) about the Onkyo TXSR701, it got the number 1 receiver!
Any thoughts?

also...has anyone bought anything from Axiom from their "Outlet"?
I could save $70 on those M50ti towers via the outlet! Was wondering if anyone had any problems!

I have Polks and I like them. But from what I have read, I dont think they are much competition for the Axioms. Both Infinity and Polk have a higher end line that will be much nicer than the stuff you can get in Circuit City, but that stuff really isnt in the same price range as the Axioms.

As for the m50 Towers, Snipp can explain this better, but I think most people find that the m22s with a decent sub out perform the 50s. Im not sure why (one would think it would be opposite).

As for Axiom vs. Polk, Definitive, or Infinity, it would depend on the model. If you are comparing similar price ranges, Axiom would easily beat any of the above mentioned companies. The only line from Polk that would compare to Axioms that I know of is the Lsi series that FrankZ has (check out his HT here on this forum). The cost is much more than the Axioms, however. Infinity makes good speakers, but again, you would have to pay a lot more to find a model that could compete with the Axiom M22.

I would, however, recommend getting the M22 or M60 instead of the M50. The M50 does not have as clear of midrange or highs as the M22 and M60. The M60 sounds very similar to the M22, it just has more bass. However, with a good sub (try www.hsuresearch.com), the sub will take over any bass that the M22 does not produce. The M22 is actually Axioms most accurate speaker. Even more accurate than the top shelf M80.

If you are really serious about the Axioms, give them a call, they are much more knowledgeable than anyone at a store and they are brutally honest. (they will likely recommend the M22 instead of the M50 also, which actually causes them to make less money). There is also a great forum at the Axiom with very knowledgable people there.
