Sub Hum?

Hey all,

My sub when connected with a MOSTER SUB CABLE is humming non stop. If i turn the GAIN up it just hums as if a wire were touching a wire. I got a new wire and It made no difference. I jiggled the wire on the amp side and it seemed to start and stop. Jiggling the wire on the sub side does nothing. So, i dont know if its my sub or my amp
Any help or ideas would be great.

thanks
-PH

Have you tried plugging the sub into the same outlet as your receiver? Try to get the sub plugged into the same circuit at least. Aside from using a quality shielded cable, this is the main culprit of "sub hum."

The fact that it starts and stops when you wiggle the cable at that end points strongly to either a bad cable end (did you wiggle with both cables and get the same results?) or, if the cable is good, possibly some soldering has broken loose on the RCA connector where it holds the unit to the circuit board, causing the connection to loose it's ground.

Well, see what happens with the RedBarons suggestion, but to me, doesn't it seem like the sub out on the amp is faulty considering how a jiggle seems to stop the hum?

Maybe the joking LOL reply in your other thread on your receiver is in fact correct ?
