Test Drove Polk "RTI-10's" Today....
wow! They sound real good, I think a little better than the Infinity "Primus 360" The Polks were a little more at $470/ea vs $275/ea. The sales guy told me to wait until the end of June as they are going to be carrying some Boston Acoustics that I should really hear!
Also listed to Mirage, the Omni series...pretty good!

Check out this link at the Axiom forum:
http://www.axiomaudio.com/boards/sho...w=&sb=&o=&vc=1 It seems he moved from Polk Ri40, Csi30 and Fxi30's to Axioms. He thinks it was a major improvement to his system. Just something to think about. Nice to hear that you are out trying speakers!

the problem I have is the that there are so many good speakers out there that I can actually "test listen" to that it makes me steer away from Axioms. "Snip" are you the only guy out there that has Axioms? I wnat to try them but doesn't it normally take a while to "break in" a speaker? What happens if I decide I don't like the Axioms, but yet I truely haven't "broken" them in yet? I really liked the Polk's RTI10's and need to now hear them at the same time as the Infinity Primus360's to make a better decision.
Yet, I still want to try the Mti's 60's.... oh what to do!

.Regardless, your first impressions should give up most of what you like/dislike from a speaker. I suppose break in does make a difference, I found my highs tamed down a bit over time, but that might be 'me' getting used to the sound. (did I just mention break in again? Damn!)Regardless, if you're really into listening to them, try them. If ya don't like them...send them back! ![]() I'm sure Snip will chime in and give us the low down on their return policy - He's the resident Axiom-Guru! (that's a good thing Snip!) ![]() |

Brttlt,
have you looked on the Axiom forum to see if there is anyone near your area that will let you come over to test drive the speakers? There are people all over Canada and the US who are more than happy to share their Axioms with you. Check out this link here: http://www.axiomaudio.com/boards/sho...&o=0&fpart=all Also, since you are so hesitant about what to buy, maybe Axioms are not for you. So many people have taken the Axiom plunge on good faith and have been blown away by their quality, but it does take some faith to trust people on HT forums. I, personally, trust people on forums like this more than I do salesman at Circuit City, Best Buy, Specialty stores, etc... I worked as one for a short time, and trust me, I sold what got me the best commission, not what was best for the customer, which we did not even sell at the store. That is why I quit, because I could not handle being so dishonest. So that is why I took the plunge and ordered Axioms without hearing them first. I am glad I did, because I have not heard any speakers at any stores in all of California that can compete with the quality at the price I got. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy whatever speakers you choose.

I love Polk speakers myself. I've been buying their products for about 12 years now. Personally I've never auditioned Axioms so I can't comment on a comparison. But I have done my own in-home comparrisons between Polk and Infinity, Klipsch and Boston Acoustics. I guess for me, what I like about Polks are their relatively flat response. Infinity and Kipsch sound too "bright" to me. I don't know if I'm just more sensative to the upper octaves, but I find it distracting when listening to them. I do like Boston Acoustics sound, but they tend to be a bit pricier than Polks and I didn't hear a big enough difference to justify the cost.
I have Polk R30's, which aren't as nice as the RTi, but if its true they're moving them out for the new ones, I may have to look at doing some upgrading. I've already moved my Center Channel up to a CSi30. Of course as most anyone will tell you, when it comes to speakers (more than anything else) what sounds best to you is all that is important. |

Here is an interesting view from a customer at the Hometheaterspot:
http://www.hometheaterspot.com/htsth...&o=365&fpart=1 Here is a quote for the link challenged: "I recieved my M60Tis yesterday and they live up to the hype I was amazed at how much better they sound then my bose 401's. I listened to the polk rt8's, rt10's, and the boston VR2's and VR3's at the local tweeter and I tell you that even on my low end receiver these speakers blew the others I listened to away. So I wanted to thank you all for pushing me towards getting these speakers. I'm very happy with my purchase." It is words like these that made me decide to test out Axiom speakers, and I am glad I did.
