Black mark on inside of my WS TV - Need some help..

I have a Sony 57" WS RPTV - KP57HW40. I bought it new a couple of years ago and love it; have never had a problem.

Today I noticed a small (less than an inch) black mark on the inside of my TV screen. It's right in the middle so it's very distracting.

Has anyone else had this problem and what had to be done to fix it? What causes this to happen?

I'm probably going to have to call Sony, which I know will be expensive, but I wanted to see what you all thought first and any solutions you may have.

Thanks in advance.

I could be dirt, lint, dust bunnies, spiders, etc. on the crt's or mirror. Pull the back off and have a look.

I've had no experience doing that - is it a simple procedure?

you could do that, but if you have a manufacturers warranty its going to void it.

Generally yes, just take your time and don't force anything.

I'm not saying you should do this, but I wonder if this might be easier (assuming luck is on your side!). The vents in the back for airflow. What about turning the TV off and taking a vacuum hose and placing it on the air vents? Wouldn't it suck the stuff out? I know it's a crap shoot, but it might be a quick fix versus taking the rear off.

Has anyone ever tried this? Just curious....

AGAIN - DON'T TRY IT UNLESS SOMEONE CONFIRMS MY CRAZY ASS IDEA.
