Help deciding between these receivers
I'm trying to decide between the following receivers, all available on overstock.com for significant discounts (which place them squarely in my price range). Any thoughts?
Yamaha HTR-5730 Yamaha HTDV-5462SL (Receiver and DVD player package) Yamaha HTR-5640 Yamaha HTR-5650 JVC RX-7030V JVC RX-5030/32 Thanks! |

Nothing up there seem to good really to me (no expert though) First rule though is to stay away from any Receiver/DVD Player package. Best Buy has some 6.1 receivers in your price range of pretty much $200. Kenwood Sony Pioneer ($300) But has Dolby Pro Logic IIx (mimics 6.1 sound for TV watching and gaming)

I have the Sony strde675 (or something like that). Its the predacesor to next model up of the one in the link that Silentbob posted. I am happy with it, but in hindsight I would say go with the comprable Yamaha or Denon.
Just my $0.02

The Yamahas are a good choice in that price range and the 5650 looks like your best bet. The 5640 is sold out. The 5462 combo is not a one pice integrated, it's two seperate components with two seperate remotes even. Still, it's not too great a deal since the receiver is not as advanced as the 5650 (no PLII) and the player isn't progressive scan or anything. So get the 5462 and then shop for a DVD player seperately if you need one.
I'd say the Pioneer or Kenwood Tons-of-Fun mentioned are good choices in the price range as well, but would also caution you against the Sony DE receiver, as the low end Sonys have totally crap amps (I'm also a former Sony DE owner, but a current Sony ES owner).
