Sony's new LCD projector boasts 6000:1 CR!

Well, it's official, when my CRT craps out or the tubes become to fried, digital is a no brainer. The price is even decent. http://www.projectorcentral.com/sony_vpl-hs51.htm

I figure in 5 years we'll have digital pjs with 6000:1+ contrast and 1920x1080 for under 5k, can't wait.

this looks good for a Digital projector. I'm waiting for the day when the revewier says that this ( insert brand here ) digital PJ outperforms my 9" CRT in video quality, black level, etc... :p

But for 5Gs, I think I will still pick up a used BG 808, and the DVDo Iscan HD they talk about in that review

Indeed. However I do recommend an HTPC, as they are very flexible, but I hear nothing but good things about the Iscan.

Well that's great , if they are making an Projector with such a contrast level then soon they will also make TVs capable of the same which is great .

I really like LCD TVs except for the blacks but this is a nice step towards much better blacks .

There is another review I read somewhere, where they actually measured it, and came up with it being over 5800:1 after calibration, so it's the real deal. Combine that with 1920x1080 res for under 5k, I'll be there.

Hey man...if this PJ pans out to be true to it's specs and 'hype'....turn around, I'll be the guy standing right behind you at the checkout counter.

(anyone intersted in a Sanyo Z2? )

Way too dark. They need to kick up the lumens. Than Ill drool over it with the rest of you. And it only says 1280x720, I dont see where you guys are getting 1920x1080 number from. Last I had heard the only way to get those numbers from a digital projector was the the JVC LCos and an anamorphic lens.

I should have been clearer, I mean WHEN they combine 6000:1 with a 1920x1080 res, THEN I'll go digital.
