DV910VHS - Any (easy) way to change region?
I recently purchased a Region 0 DVD, and my Philips DV910VHS combo DVD/VCR doesn't think it's a playable disc.
It's an NTSC DVD (so no PAL vs. NTSC issues), but everytime I attempt to play it, I get the "Please Insert a Playable Disc" screen. I've narrowed it down to the region coding - that said, is there any way to disable the region (or change it to all) on my DV910VHS? Modding/chipping the unit isn't an option - any service/diagnostic code that may be able to do this? Thanks in Advance... |

I had the same problem with a region 0 copy of the Final Count Down. I think the problem is just that some players wont play region 0 discs. Im pretty sure its a copy right issue, even though there are plenty of legitimate r0 discs.

Re: DV910VHS - Any (easy) way to change region?
Quote:
It's a Japanese Anime (specifically, Gundam Wing), and the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced it's an issue with my deck. The DVD plays fine on my PC, as well as on an Emerson TV/DVD combo - why would my DV910VHS deck NOT like region 0 discs? I even went so far as to check the instruction manual, and it supposedly has the ability to play Region 0/ All Region DVDs, yet for some reason can't play this one... Any thoughts (other than the fact that it's about time to retire my DV910VHS :p )? |
