Your HT, your hardware....audio or video supremacy?

While I may be bored and waiting for the late game tonight, I think this is a valid question and deserves some heartfelt answers.

You got your HT, you sit back and say I finally did it....it's done (for now anyways ).

What have you put your efforts into most? Audio or Video?

If it's both AND you've accomplished that goal...I hate you.

Seriously....If you had to pick what part of your system was superior, would it be the audio or video side?

---------------------
Me, I guess lately it's been the video side. Hell, I've yet to upgrade those damn White-Van speakers I still have in the living room!

Currently audio, only because I'm still soldiering on with my trusty 10-year-old 25-inch Zenith.

It's a close call, but I'd have to say the audio edges out the video. I've certainly put more into the audio, and I'm planning some upgrades (new special editions of the main speakers, new sub, and another amp to power back surrounds). The video part of my system is going to stand pat for a whie, although we're still thinking about getting a D* HDTivo.

I have to say both. Until recently it was video, with a CRT projector running at 1440x720 via HTPC on a 120in 16:9 screen(with an MP-1 modded Radeon video card $500 value by itself). However, I since upgraded to the ultra fine Klipsch top-of-the-reference series sound system, driven by the Denon 3805 reciever. With that I would still say video, but a week ago I got the massive SVS PB2+ subwoofer, with that, I say both. And I can say with no ego, Imax ain't got shit on me!

Still... there's always more. Next with audio I'll go seperates, with video I can get a new MP-1 modded Geforce video card, as the new line of them outperforms Radeon apparently.

I know I know, but I'm not bragging! It's what I have, and what I feel. At the moment my audio and video are on equal footing.

Probably audio, because as muchas I love my plasma, I can't wait to eventually go to a nice big projection setup. That and I just adore my denon, now I just need to find more time to put into cd, scad, dvd-a listening. Although if I had to look at what I have currently as compared to what realistically I can purchase in the next few years, I'd say I'm 100 percent happy with my setup, I haven't tinkered with it in 2 months, and have finally got to the point where it's not a work in progress, but a finished home theater.

Iguana, keep rocking on with your badness!

I'm audio all the way. The only thing i have upgraded when i first started with my HTIb with my 25" RCA TV is my audio.

I replaced my receiver about a year after my HTiB purchase, Went from my RCA Dolby Digital 5.1 receiver to a Marantz SR-4300 Dolby, DTS and PLII 6.1 receiver. Fe weeks after that purchase i got soem Mission M70i Bookshelf speakers for XMas and then a few days later i got my Velodyne CHT-8 sub. Then about a year ago i got some new JBL N28II speakers. But here i am still stuck with my 25" RCA TV.

I will eventually replace it . . . .probably in a few years

Video! I love my Z2 and am currently drooling over the Z3. So yes, video it is. At least until I get my new Pioneer rec next month.

I knew I should've made this a poll whereby you see who voted for what!

I'm dying to know who voted for mono on a black & white tv!

Hmmm.. tough to say. I'm very happy with the audio and video performance of my system but I would like to upgrade the display, A/V receiver, and maybe swap out the speakers at some point.

For now, I'm happy with the exception of still needing new surrounds.

Peace...

My audio edges out my video, but I'm pretty happy with both.

I voted audio, but in reality I should have said none. I do not have my own place yet, so I still have just a one bedroom abode. Therefore, my choices are severely limited. I am probably one of the few people out there who is happy with a computer/console based DVD setup. I have a Dell 2001FP LCD monitor which is absolutely stunning in terms of color, response time, brightness, and image quality. For sound I have a set of Midiland S4-8200 speakers which are a 5.1 surround sound speaker system with a receiver that decodes Dolby Digital and DTS. I have my computer and an XBOX going into the monitor and receiver, so if I want to cut back on fan noise I watch movies on the XBOX. Either way, they look and sound incredible considering the size of the setup. If I can ever afford my own place (god I hope it's soon), I'll start putting together a more 'realistic' home theater setup. But for the size of my room, I think my setup is great.

It's nobody you know, I'd guess. They've only posted four times.

Somebody just trying to be "cool" I'd guess.

(But then again, you probably shouldn't have included that as an option, eh?)

(Oh, and I voted "both".)

Well I have to say audio. It's not the best out there but it brings a smile to my face when I listen to Dark Side of the Moon on SACD. For a Onkyo HTiB system it suits me pretty good. I was wanting so desperately to upgrade to the 43 inch LCD Sony but alas home improvement projects (wood flooring) are going to eat the budget up. Maybe in about 2 years I can replace my 27 inch RCA television.

Who was that masked man that just rode in here and spanked me?

You're probably right...bad humor got the best of me.

If only my room wasn't square and rather small....maybe I'd get to vote for 'both'...but alas...

I have to say Audio as even though I don't have top of the line for either audio or video, my audio setup is much better than my video setup.

At least for now....

I went with audio first because good sound can make your TV feel bigger than it really is.
