When will 1080i HDTVs be outdated????

Would it still be worth it to buy an HDTV now?? When will 1080p become the norm on TV???

Thanks

I would recommend getting an HDTV now with 1080i or 720p resolution, do not worry about 1080p right now. It is currently available on some models, including an excellent Sharp 45" LCD TV. However, the step from 480i to 1080i or 720p is so huge it is worth the price of a new HDTV set right now. Once you see HD in action, you will understand.

If you keep worrying about new technologies, you will never buy anything and you will be way out of touch with technology. Not buying an HDTV set now because of better resolutions is like not buying a DVD player now because HD DVD is eventually coming out.

I agree with snipsnap. Besides, 1080p isn't an "official" HD resolution, I believe, while 720p and 1080i are.

Go ahead, spend the money.

Peace...

1080P is an official ATSC resolution, but no-one uses yet, except for me and my Dell computer monitor

See, even I learn new things everyday.

Sharp makes a LCD TV that accepts 1080p (as was mentioned above) and Samsung has a TV on the way as well, if it's not out already. Other TVs supporting 1080p are on the way.
