Tivo - Why *DO* you have one?
A reverse take on another post....Tivo! I think it's the best thing since the Croc-Pot Slow Cooker!
I can sit back and write this post while my fav show is playing (paused). I find after several weeks of owning one that it is one of the best investments I've made as far as my a/v hardware goes. One click (OK, maybe two to get a Season pass) and I'm done! I can grab my beer and watch whatever I've recorded with the simple click of a button. CSI in High Definition is a pleasure beyond belief. The Batman cartoon is there when I want it........great Googily Moogily!! I am sold.....Tivo! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Hows-about you? Oh yeah, I have one because it ROCKS! (that was for you know who) |

I have one so I am no longer bound by the networks schedule, nor do I have to watch their commercials which are devoid of any intelligence.
If they feel bad about me not being forced to watch them, don't worry, I wouldn' buy that shit anyway... Because of that commercial ![]()

I want one.
I really, really want one. Unfortunately, I can't get one. ![]() I have a really nice cable package, HD, movie channels, the works. But I have a CableCard, which eliminates the need for a cumbersome box and costs 1.50 a month versus $10. A PVR cable box would run me I think $17 a month. In addition, a CC provides a much better signal than a cable box, since my TV sees the feed type and converts accordingly instead of having some cheesy, low end box do it for me, causing a shittier conversion, on top of creating another jump in the cabling and more signal degradation (Cable straight into my TV vs. cable into box into component TV). I'm pretty SOL, since if I bought a Tivo right now I'd only be able to record un-encrypted channels, not to mention no HD programming, since those boxes are $1000. ![]()

I'm extremely close to getting one. I can't keep track of all my VHS tapes anymore, and I have only so many VCR's to tape my favorite shows that run in the same time slots. Both my uncles have it, so I've had frequent exposure to it in the last few months.
