Pioneer Receiver Help
I was looking to upgrade to the Pioneer VSX-D914 REceiver since im due for an upgrade and usually get there best of there regular line of receivers. I then found a receiver VSX-1014tx which is a THX model but isnt elite. Its only a 20 dollar or so difference. But this receiver isnt listed at pioneers site except in a model comparison where it causes a web page error i guess casue they took it down. I did a search on the net though and found the pionner page for it which i guess they didnt take down but took the links away for. ANyone know why this receiver isnt listed anymore? its at most sites for perchase still but was something wrong with it? It came out in august and the 914 model came on in dec but still isnt as good. There both listed in the 04 catalog as well. What gives?
thanks lots Dennis |

Searching Pioneer's US site came up with this press release date Jan 7, 2004:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...890147,00.html According to the release the VSX-1014tx was indeed released August of 2004. Doing a Google search I came up with: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...866598,00.html Looks like somebody just screwed the pooch on the website as this unit is listed in the parts catalog. |

WOW that first link said early 04 this things old already. IN any case while i was about to buy this receiver now the reality of the hd dvds coming out this yr is making me hold off. Im guessing there will be new model receivers this summer or so with more componet inputs or some kinda of changes. No?

Could be, but Pioneer usually moves units into the 'older' category on the site whenever they take a model out of production. I think somebody just screwed up the website.
Pioneer GB and Germany list vsx1014-s and vsx1014-k as "new" Last edited by NotaNumber : 01-08-2005 at 11:00 PM. |

Its a really sweet receiver but like i said i think this is a transitial year for the equitment to hd dvd and i should wait till the summer or fall maybe i have no clue of course what changes they whould make to their receivers if any though. but i dont wanna look at a feature id like to have had in 6 months if i waited cause im definatly getting an hd dvd player.

I got the 1014TX back in October, and all I can say is WOW! It is realy just a VSX 52TX. It has some functionality removed from it, like RS232, and Second zone out, but the amps, and processor all match the 52. This is the second time that Pioneer has taken an Eliet receiver and rebadged it as a standard line. The first was the VSX-2012 TX. Some stores also have the 9300TX receiver that seems to be 54TX rebadged as a standard line unit.
It will be fall of 05 before Pioneer releases anything new, so if you are willing to wait 6-9 months, then who khows what the future holds ![]() j

Yeah i already know that i will have dvd and a hd tuner with hdmi. SO they will need to make some new receivers with multiple inputs for it, since my tv just has one rgb. Im droolin over the receiver but everythings about to change and i think it whould be a waste. Even if the hd blue ray player war goes on the wiring should be the same.
