Harmony H659 Universal Remote

I just shelled out about a hunny for a Harmony H659 Internet Connected Remote and it seems to have been worth every penny. I've tried the All for One remotes and the URC inc units too but have never been satisfied with the purely device/macro focused nature of these devices. The Harmony does macros but calls them Activities. You can set up configurations that run your DVD/TV/Reciever, your TV/STB/TiVO etc. with a mix of functions from all active devices on the hard keys. The Activity buttons activate all the needed hardware and configure the remote for that combination. You can also switch to the device focused mode and have the remote emulate the controls for a single piece of hardware too.

The whole thing is controlled via the Harmony Web site and though the setup pages are a little difficult from a usability perspective, the overall experience is very rewarding and easy.

Anyone else using a Harmony remote? I highly recommend them!

After the recommendation in this thread, I love my new remote!!

I went out and got myself one and I couldn't be happier. Very easy to set up, took me about 30 minutes. Highly recommend it, also.

FWIW, Harmony/Logitech is running a 1/2 off sale on these remotes that ends today (the 14th of January.) Use the code "mac2005" in the checkout process at logitech.com for the discount.

I have my 659 set up now and it's excellent! I'm sold on the activity based system, especially since I can dive back into device focused commands with the click of a button. People gripe that the transport controls are too low on the remote but since I don't use a VCR or a PVR right now that doesn't bother me one bit. The setup took a while to get exactly right but I'm a major perfectionist and now that the options are all to my liking it's smooth sailing from here on out. The remote controls all eight of my devices without a hitch! Love it!

Sweet remote there surf We have been setting them up in our stores lately, and I must say...I think I may end up replacing my RC 2000 mk 2 with one.
