Mac Mini - The new perfect HTPC?

Check it:
http://www.apple.com/macmini/

Add the m-audio transit for optical digital audio output and the Keyspan express USB remote. This could be the perfect HTPC - at least for my set up. There's even some good USB TV Tuners if your into that sort of thing.

What do you think, sirs?

Yup. In fact the Mac option is currently the best HD tuner/PVR system available.

The only thing is that the new Mac Mini isn't going to be near powerful enough to play back HD material. BUT you could use it for recording just fine.

Interesting. What is the name of the HDTV PVR solution your thinking of?

The Elgato EyeTV 500.

"Macintosh owners, you've got a clear category-leading product to buy right now, if you're looking for a DTV solution that is not burdened by the FCC's broadcast flag restrictions. When it comes to the features that matter—the ability to easily and reliably receive, record, and play back DTV programs in the same open format in which they are broadcast (mpeg2 transport streams)—the EyeTV is truly the best-of-breed product currently available (as of November 2004) on any platform that we've encountered. I wonder. Could such functionality be added by a third party, perhaps through the Firewire interface?

This is getting a lot more traffic down in off topic.
