Help with Pioneer VSX-815-s

hello all i was wondering if someone may be able to help me out
i just purchased the VSX-815-s reveiver and I'd like to display all my imput devices (xbox, dvd, satelite) to be displayed on my projector

the sales person told me that this pioneer model supports a "switchin" feature that would allow me to display everything on my composite connection to my projector

how can I set this "switching" feature on my receiver?

Welcome to the forum!

I grabbed this from the specs page on your receiver:

Quote:
3 Component Video Inputs/1 Output
I will assume you meant component, not composite. If so, it looks to me as though you could use these 3 inputs for your Xbox, DVD player and Sat. Then send one component cable out to your PJ. You would have to assign each of the 3 ins by using the receivers menu interface (ie: Game, DVD, Tv/Sat).

Hope this helps!

What kind of PJ do you have?

I've got the VSX-1014 and I have everything plugged in with component except my gamecube, which is in via s-video. Then I have all out to my Infocus 4805 with 1 component cable. So it can definetly be done.

All you have to do is go into the system menu on the receiver and set all the connections appropriately like Iguana said.

thanks for the reply..

below is the link to the receiver i have

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10059254&catid=20313

this is from the features menu:

Component Video Switching - Models with this feature allow you to connect multiple component video inputs to a single component video channel and easily switch between inputs by pressing a button on the front of the receiver or the receiver remote control.

what im trying to do is use a composite input, such as my satelite receiver wich does not have a component output
only has s-video and regular composite
and display it using the output component to my projector

I've been playin around with the settings and can't seem to make it work, i can get it to work if i use several component inputs connections and display it out of the one component to my projector...

could it be my receiver only does component switching? not composite to component output ?

Why don't you try hooking the cable box up with an s-video cable?

I haven't tried hooking up something using composite, but I can say for a fact that if you use an s-video hookup, the signal will go through. I have one single component cable running from my receiver to my Infocus 4805, and the only thing I don't have hooked up component into the receiver is my Gamecube (stupid ass Nintendo for discontinuing the component cable hookup ). I have it hooked up using s-video and the signal goes through just fine.

You may very well be having "compatability" issues with the composite-component signal.

Go into the receiver's setup menu (press receiver in the remote's multi control section and then hit the T.EDIT (system setup in green) button to the lower left of the enter key in the middle of the remote). Go to number 5 (Input assignment) and check to see if maybe you have that specific input hookup assigned to either digital or component hookups. Maybe that could be your problem if it is. I have my Gamecube input assigned as off and it works fine.

Let me know how that turns out...

What he said!

Does your PJ have two inputs? One Component and one S-Video? If so, I think your problem is solved but I'll wait for your reply first.
