HD Tivo/HDMI --> TV. Will it record ALL shows?

I'm wondering if you hook up your HDMI out from a HD Tivo to the HDMI in on your TV if there is any risk of it not recording shows based on the HDMI connection.

I'm currently running Component but would like to try the HDMI instead. However, something in the back of my depleted mind is gnawing at me, and that is the concern stated above.

I think you're looking at the problem from the wrong direction.

The HDMI from HDTivo to TV only comes into play AFTER the program has been recorded. So, if HDTivo supports HDCP, and your TV supports HDCP, then all should be fine.

The better question to ask would be: will content providers disable recording on HDTivo via HDCP?

Who knows? I'm sure that some will try. (Like HBO or Showtime perhaps? Why would you buy the DVD version of "HBO Drama of the year" when you have a pristine HD version sitting on your HDTivo?)

Ahh...once again, I had it "bass ackwards" but yes, that is my question.

The only shows I record are HD CSI, 24, and a couple other SD shows. Given the clarification of my question that you've brought forth....whatcha all think?

I suppose I could try it with a rerun of the shows I TIVO, but it would be nice to know ahead of time one way or another.
