Yamaha C750 (aka 6770) or C950?

Does anybody have one of these players?

Apparantly the C750 lacks the ability to pass below black pluge. Has anybdoy found that a problem?

thanx

I don't know a doggone thing about that player, but if it doesn't pass the pluge I wouldn't be too worried. Lots of great looking players haven't passed the pluge..but I would try and use a calibration disc moreso with one that doesn't.

Are you the owner of this or "looking" at it? If you haven't commited to it, there might be lots of other suggestions price wise from folks here.

I picked up a C750 for use as an ALL REGION player that plays all kinds of formats player. ALL REGION, dvd-audio and video, sacd, divx, mp3 wma etc etc.

So far its fairly decent. A little quirky, but working well for the most part. I was just looking for feedback.

Thanks morkys,

Until I really read this post, I didn't realize that the Yamaha C750 I had was All Region, and DVD-A accessible. I purchased it for SA-CD capabilities, which it has worked great with. I have a couple of DVD-A's and figured that it wasn't playing them correctly.

Dug out the owner's manual, and discovered how to correct problem.

As for black pluge, I have no idea what you are talking about.

Yep, with a few key presses on the remote control, the C750 can be made region free.

As far as black pluge...I am talking about whether or not the dvd player can pass below black. It helps for calibrating. When you pass below black information, it isn't supposed to be seen, but if the info is there, and you adjust the brightness, you can see the it, and then you turn down the brightness until it just disappears. Helps in more precise calibrating. There are test patterns on DVE and Avia for example.
