External Drive for Scientific Atlanta 8300HD
Has anyone added an external drive to a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD? According to the users guide you can add an external eSATA drive to increase the storage capacity.
Just added HBO for the new season of the Sopranos and between that and the HD movies we have been saving the internal drive is just about full. I'll probably do it anyway, but I thought I would see if anyone here had tried it. Peace, T Dawg |

I've read that it all depends on if your box has the firewire port active. So do and some don't. I would check with someplace like http://www.dslreports.com/ ,they have forums that discuss your options with DVR cableboxes.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the link. I have talked to my local support center (Time Warner Finger Lakes area). I had to go through a few people to get someone that knew, but it appears that the port is active (it is external SATA not firewire), but they do not provide help on using it. I ordered an externel HDD enclosure and will give it a try.
