Black or Silver?

As far as your HT hardware goes, what do you prefer? Black or Silver? This isn't based on all the equipment you own since some items come in only one color, it's all about what you prefer and have bought if both were available at buy time.

But, if you are really hellbent on one color versus another, and have waited or even traded up to get the color you prefer, just throw that info into your post.

Mods; you all just know that me posting a poll is going to need to be edited, so....get ready. <--those rolling eyes are for me.

Silver components shimmer if you have a large screen. End of story.

It used to be black for me, but now it's silver I geuss. All my componants are silver. In the long run it really doesn't matter though. It's the performance of the piece that I worry about, not the looks.

I use to think Silver was a cool colour for my TV but i got bored of it. When i got my new TV thankfully they had black and i persoanlly prefer the black overall. Although my DVD player is silver but it was black before i got a replacement one under warrenty.

Oh and the black helps me out by telling me its time to dust

As piratehunter said "Silver components shimmer if you have a large screen." Black all the way. However, do what I do, and just put them inside a closet completly, then you can't see them at all.

I like black and silver, but ended up getting silver A/V components and my LCD TV has a black frame.

Well let's see the dvd player is Silver and the Amp/tuner is black. The tv is black also. I have decided from looking at tvs in the stores I like the ones tht have the black bezel around the screen. To me it makes the colors stand out more.

Owned/Used it for 10+ Years...I'm over Black...IMO it's Dull & Boring

My Polk Audio's are only in Black because I can't find the Cherry here. When I upgrade my 6.1 Panasonic SA-HE100 Receiver, it will be Silver.

Even my first car was Black ('99 Ponitac Grand AM/V6)...now Silver ('02 Acura RSX Premium)

I prefer black for anything that is visible and near the screen, but when we bought our Wega, Silver was very trendy and I didn't give much thought to it. We were in an apartment at the time and simply wantd the best 27" TV we could afford, and although small, it is still an excellent set. Every TV I had owned or viewed regularly before that was black, so it of course never ocurred to me that silver could be a problem. Of course, being that our equipment is in our living room with very little lighting control, it is really only bothersome in the dead of the night with all other lights in the house turned off.

My other concern is, years after the silver trend fades, will my TV look dated like a console TV in the 90's?

As others have said, I would prefer black as Silver can result in shimmering.

Unfortunately, most of the components they sell around here at a price I can afford are silver, so I take what I can get. If I had the choice, though, I'd choose black.
