That's just a snipet of the article.

Peace...

So this disc would only be good for determining the quality of your equipment but it won't help you calibrate it like Avia ? What good would that be ?

So, you're at BestBuy and wanna see how good a HDTV you're looking at really performs. Use the HQV disc and put it through its paces right there.

Then when you bring it home, you can do a full/proper calibration.

Peace...

This seems like a good idea for all of the Brick and Mortar joints to use. I've often wondered of a way to sell my services to these places. Meaning, I've always thought these places would benifit GREATLY from someone even semi-calibrating their sets. I gotta believe more sets would sell if they all weren't sitting there with the f-ing brightness and contrast jacked up all the way.

Just my 2 cents.

Oh I get it , good point . Provided of coarse the people in the store let you do so . But then considering how much one is likely to spend I bet they would .

Actually they have their sets set that way on purpose because most people are stupid and will just choose whatever set looks the brightest and stands out the most in the display .

I've even seen them changing the settings of sets to make them look bad so that another TV technology that they wish to push and sell looks better .

I fully understand that, but I was stupid at one point, and I imagine you were too. Now that we have seen the 'light' and accept a better picture as better, isn't it safe to assume that other stupid people would too?

I just don't see why any of these stores wouldn't sell more sets if their sets were calibrated or even tuned a little.

Part of the problem may also be the less than ideal lighting conditions in alot of showroom , much too bright . I have to give kudos to the Sony store for keeping their big screen TVs in a dark Home Theatre corner of the store .
